I can't boot into Safemode. Everything is working in normal windows but when I try to get into safe mode the mouse and the keyboard doesn't work when it asks me to choose a user to log in with. Does anyone know anything I could try? Thanks. Dan.

Hi!
Use your up and down keys to make your selection then the enter key.

Do you have a usb mouse and/or keyboard? If yes, go into the BIOS and be
sure Legacy USB is enabled. If that still doesn't fix the problem, try
with a ps/2 connecting keyboard and mouse. Post back if you need more
help.

The Mouse and Keyboard are both ps/2 connecting. When I go to log onto a user in safemode I can't use the up and down keys to select, nor can I use the mouse. any ideas?

Here are a few more ideas: 1) Do the devices require special drivers? If
so, remove them. 2) Have you done a virus scan with a current
(post-2002 version using updated definitions) antivirus program? 3) Go
into Device Manager and change the view to Show Hidden Devices. If you
see extra keyboards/mice, uninstall them (I believe by right-clicking
you'll get this option - sorry but the XP box isn't on right now) - if
there isn't any option for uninstall, then just remove them. Obviously,
you'll need to leave one instance of keyboard/mouse still there.

You should troubleshoot by doing one thing at a time and seeing the
result before moving on to the next thing. Also, answer the famous
troubleshooting question: Did this always happen? If not, what changed
between the time it worked and the time it didn't?
