I really hope someone can help because I'm absolutely desperate!
Two days ago I had to force my Dell Dimension 8400 running WinXP pro service
pack 2 to shut down, and when I tried to restart it gave me the BSOD with
stop error 0x00000024. In safe mode, it gets stuck on mup.sys and then goes
to BSOD. I've read about a million posts from others with the same problem,
and they all seem to have different solutions.
What I've done:
Updated BIOS, reset CMOS, run all Dell diagnostics (all pass), run Spinrite
(no problems found), tried to run Windows recovery (says there is no hard
drive), tried Partition Table Doctor (says 2 of 3 partitions are bad, but
can't fix them).
I even tried using Slax Linux but I can't figure out how to access my files.
Any ideas?
