I have about 2,000 IE 6 favorites. When I attempt to back up the
favorites file to my secondary hard drive, Windows Explorer invariably
crashes. Sometimes it crashes immediately; sometimes it appears to
back up a few dozen of the favorites and then crashes.
Do you know why this happens?
How would I fix it?
One theory I had was that the mini IE icon that is attached to each
favorite (not to be confused the with IE desktop icon) is corrupted. I
offer this guess because often when I scroll through a file containing
many favorites, the scrolling goes slowly as the icon for each
successive favorite appears with a brief delay; the brief delays add up
to major sluggishness.
I'm using IE 6 with service pack 2.
