Can't add PC to domain

Recently a client decided to take 1 PC off his domain ,,
it is a windows 2000 Server SBS setup with active
directory and exchange ...when we try to re-join the
domain the system reports the the RPC server is
unavailable ..if you check the active directory users and
groups Snap in it reports the new pc name under computer
accounts ...
We can ping the server and access shared resources (
using net use /user:domain\user pass)

Any suggesetions

Make sure the server and all clients are fully patched. Put the troubled
workstation in a workgroup, reboot and add it to the domain again.
