I cleaned some spyware stuff with SpyBot & Ad-Aware and now I can't access
any web sites in IE nor FireFox, but I can still log on to AIM and browse my
home network and iTunes store. I ran into this problem before, but I don't
remember how I fixed it (or if I did fix it). How do I fix this?

TIA

Use another computer to access this site and download this fix to a floppy
LSP-fix- http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

This usually works for your problem...it's the LSP/Winsock bug...
Spyware had infected the Layered Security Protocol/Winsock layer and after
removal, LSP/Winsock is no
longer configured properly.
To fix
Start>run>cmd
type
netsh winsock reset
reboot
IE/Firefox

you can Google "LSP" as well for a software patch for pre-XP systems.

Thanx, but that didn't solve anything. 0 items removed, 0 items renumbered.

I notice in IE with some sites it seems like it's going to open. It goes
from the domain to the start page (i.e. www.nfl.com, then status bar says
'Downloading from site...', then 'opening' www.nfl.com/somecrap/main.html)
but then IE spits an error "Internet Explorer could not open the search
page."

so it can reach the outside, but it stops loading with that error.

Any ideas???

TIA

that didn't work either.

Any other ideas?
