Can't access shared folders on Winows 2000 machines

P

Paul Birkhead

I have one computer in my network that uses the Windows
2000 Professional, and another that uses Windows 2000
Server. I have to do a search to fine these computers
because they are not showing up in My Network Places
(another issue). When I try to access the shared folders
on these computers from my XP Home machine, I am prompted
for the login and password instead of simply being shown
the shared folders. The folders are not password
protected. Another one of my workstations is a Windows
Me machine. I can see the shared folders on both the
Windows 2000 machines without having to provide a login
and password.

Looking for help on why this is occuring and how to
correct it.
