Can't access secure sites

I use Explorer 6.0 with Windows ME, and for the past few days have been unable to access any secure sites, such as the checkout page when ordering something, or any of my banking or credit card, or even phone bill sites. Very frustrating! I get the "This Page Cannot be Displayed" message. I have 128-bit connection. I checked on my Internet Options and SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0 are all checked. I don't see anything about PCT 1.0, but on the "Cannot be Displayed" message it tells me to check that setting, too. I'm pretty much a novice at all this, and I don't know what has changed in just the past couple of days. I was able to access these sites last week, about April 29. Can't remember if I tried to do a Microsoft Update. Those don't load very well on my slow connection. HELP!!

Make sure your firewall is not blocking port 443. See also

I don't know how to check if the firewall is blocking any port. I
inactivated the firewall in my Norton Int. Sec. program. I don't
know what else to do there. My time and date are correct, my
encryption is 128, the site that tests SSL capability said I'm OK,
and I can't even contact my internet security site on their feedback
option. I just get the Cannot Find Server, DSN error, etc. page.
Arrrggghh!

Enable the firewall again and check the NIS help or the Symantec Web site.
