Can't access internet

This is in regard to my son's PC: Windows XP Home SP1
Uses Ethernet connection through college server, had access to all websites.
Recently, access stopped to websites (message unable to connect etc) EXCEPT
to "iMesh". PC brought home, tested connection on 1) broadband, unable to
access Comcast.net... but could access iMesh by typing address on IE, or,
closing IE and clicking the iMesh shortcut on desktop, 2) disconnected
broadband connection, dialed into AOL, able to access AOL home page but no
other web sites except iMesh. Downloaded 'Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)' from
CD created on another PC, ran program...removed so much spyware! iMesh still
only website available.

Hi,

It might be worth trying to run adaware on the PC as this can sometimes
detect things the microsoft program misses. (you can get a free version from
www.lavasoftusa.com, You will also need to download the latest update file
from the site and copy it to the place you install Adaware to, as the PC
doesn't have internet access)

Also are you able to connect to a website using an ip address for example
typing http://66.102.11.99/ should take you to the google homepage.. If that
works it may be a DNS problem..
Let me know how you get on.
