My laptop died, but hard drive is still good. I pulled the drive,
mounted it in an external enclosure, and backed it up. However, I've
just realized that I can't view the files in my Admin profile, under
Documents and Settings.
Since this is an external drive, there's no way to right-click and "Run
As..." if I were on my original machine. I'm not logged into that
system. I'm logged onto a completely different system, viewing the
files on an external drive.
And, yes, I've referred to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308418,
308419, 308421, 810881, etc.
My question is: how can I log in to that drive, *without* changing the
permissions?
I will eventually reinstall this drive into the repaired laptop, and I
don't want to screw up my permissions so it doesn't boot when I
reinstall it in the original system.
Thanks,
