i installed Xp over a Vista, butnow only XP starts. The window prompt to
select the OS does not appear for me. How can I make Vista the default OS
system once again?
Thank You

Ernesto,

You can try this:

Right-click MY COMPUTER | PROPERTIES | ADVANCED tab | STARTUP & RECOVERY button
& change the default OS system

Click APPLY | OK

You will probly have to reinstall Vista.
In any Windows install directions it states to install the older OS first.
Then the newer.
With a disk manager does the Vista partition still show?
If so then you can set that to be primary and it should boot to that.
If you can not boot to Vista at all. Hopefully the XP is on the C drive.
(Oh...you can't have two OSs on the same drive.)
If XP is showing as "C"? Then make a "D" drive partition and install Vista
