I have Windows XP, trying to get my old canon scanner to work on it.
tried downloading something off the canon website but it didn't work.
I keep getitng 0x00070800 error message, scanner not found. I a
computer -un- intelligent and everything is so confusing. The cano
website said to check the Bios, so I restarted , hit delete, and wen
into what I think was the Bios (?) but they said to check the paralle
port mode and see if it was set up for bidirectionally. I couldn'
find that at all. Somewhere on the computer (I'd have a lot of goo
luck if I could find it again) I think somewhere something abou
printer ports I saw a box checked saying bidirectionally something o
other . I don't know if that has anything to do with anything. I a
very frustrated. I saw in another post something about you can't hav
a printer and a scanner .... hooked up together, is that what m
problem is? Someone, please help me before I throw this scanne
through the window!!!

Thanks!!!

From my brief search on google, it seems there is no driver for this
scanner for XP. That is not uncommon with older scanners. The
manufacturers didn't want to put the effort into writing newer drivers.
On option if you have an old computer lying around, is install win 95
or win98 and attach the scanner to that. Good luck.

XP does not support a printer and scanner running off of one parallel port..
your idea of throwing out the old scanner is a good one.. the Canon
Lide30/1240U would be a good replacement..
