Canon i9900 users...

Hello, I just purchased the last remaining i9900 available locally and
would appreciate any tips, hints and advice that people in this group
have gathered as a result of their experiences with this printer. Also,
if anyone has any advice on where to get reasonably priced 13x19 paper
in the B.C. area or by Internet, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, PC.

Unless you got it for around $200 you did not do very well. The Canon
Pro9000 is out and that is the latest wide format dye printer available
today. It has newer engineered Canon ink and dual paper feeds, a nice
to have feature.

I've had a canon i9900 since mid 2003. Great printer! I get my 13 x 19
canon paper from Fry's and use Hobbicolors ink to produce beautiful,
long lasting prints.
I've had no problems whatsoever.

If you plan to refill your carts, one choice is to go onto the Nifty Stuff
Forum and look up Grandad35's posts on using custom color profiles. He uses
Sensient-Formulabs inks from Alotofthings (reliable brand of ink and a
reliable vendor) and has posted the custom profiles he has done for this
inkset, his i9900, and Costco's Kirkland glossy photo paper. I see that
Frank has posted his use of Hobbicolors inks as well.

Nice talk for someone who doesn't actaully own either printer.........

of these excellent units, authoritatively quoting a magazine review as is
it was from his own experience.

Phreak - I see that you've been "trolled"! Obviously, you know to disregard
his nonsense. The i9900 and the iP6000D seem to be the last of the new
bci-6 printers in the pipeline and a smart buy for anyone who wants to print
everything and anything he wants without concern for ink costs. Do go onto
the Nifty Stuff Forum as I suggested.

Good printer but . . .
If you are serious about color management you are now in Canon land.
Canon only makes glossy and matte paper and includes profiles for these.
They are merely ok.
If you want to use other paper surfaces, or get better results with Canon
papers, you must fully understand Color management, Canon's particular
implementation of color management, and how to tweak.
It can be done, but if you are a stickler for accuracy, as opposed to the
nearly accurate, it is not easy.
Or else shell out for a device to create your own custom printer/paper
profiles.
