Canon camera device manager

I have wundows xp home edition. I have been using a Canon
Digital Ixus 400 camera without a problem until now. I
have checked device manager and reinstalled software and
drivers. Camera is found and status is " working
correctly". However when I use Canon Zoombrowser - it
says camera not found. Any ideas?

Thanks

Is the camera turned on? I've seen people make that mistake. They
connect the USB to the camera, mp3 player, etc. but forget to turn it
on. A device that is off cannot be recognized.

There is a setting in ZB to select the specific camera from a list as a
default option; a preferences or options menu. If the correct Canon
camera is not selected it will not find the camera AIRC.

Ensure the following
Camera is turned O
Camera is in PLAY mod
in the menu on the camera, make sure the connection method is "normal" (from memory) not the other one

Thank to those who replied to my earlier mail.

I have checked everything. Uninstalled/Re-installed/Rebooted etc.
My PC says "Device working correctly" so it seems that my PC knows the camera is connected.
The thing I am missing now that was fine a couple of days ago is this:

A pop up used to appear and say
Device connected
Select the progran to launch for this program
Canon Zoombrowser Ex
Microsoft Scanner & Camera Wizard

This does not happen now.
So my PC dosn't know what program to use. Canon are looking into this but say it is an XP issue but they are trying to help.

Also - when I view my camera in Hardware or Cameras & scanners etc the Canon Ixus 400 appears, however, when I right click properties - it says no properties available for this device.

Just hoping someone else might crack it.

Thanks v much

For the time being let us assume that the device is working.

So... open Windows Explorer and see if the camera is listed. It should
appear on in Explorer just like any other drive. So if it does, you
can just drag the photos from that device to somewhere on your hard
drive. Then you can open them in any image editor on your system.
Including whatever software came with the camera (assuming it came
with a rudimentary image editing program).
