Canon BJC4000 & Print Server problem

I have the following hardware -

HP1100 LaserJet
HP Jetdirect 300X Print Server

Canon BJC4000
HP Jetdirect 170x Print Server

I'm having a problem getting the Canon BJC4000 to print on either Print
Server from the test button on the print server.
From what I have read the Canon is not a GDI printer so am I correct in
thinking that this should work?
I dont mind which server I use with the Canon as the HP works from either.

Does anybody know if this is possible ?

I have a i560 and the only print server I could get to work is from
Silex out of Salt Lake City UT or one of the cities nearby. The model
is PRICOM CX

The PS I have allows bidirectional control signal (paper out, jam
ect.), auto on and off. My printer stays in standby/off until the
printer is cued from any printer in the network. It prints it task and
shuts dow.

I also have remote ink bottles with tubes feeding the tanks so I just
fill the bottles every 3 months or so.
