Canon BJC-8200 - Black only printing

I have an aging Canon BJC-8200 that I use to print bklack text only.

I am frustrated that I have to keep loading new cartridges in the 5
color slots...even though I only want to use the black cartridge.

Is there any way to override the requirement for full color carts, when
printing only in black? As it is now, it just won't print without the
color carts loaded and full..

Thanks

AFAIK, nope. it needs full, or what it believes to be full carts.
Maybe tape over the bottom of the prism on the carts in question.
IMO, you should get a cheap laser for your text work rather than ruin a
perfectly good printer.
