Canon BJC 2100 Install in XP

I just started using a new computer that runs on Windows
XP Professional. I am trying to install my Canon BJC
2100, with no success. I've downloaded the appropriate
driver, but during the install it still doesn't recognize
my printer. Power, cords, everything is in the right
spot. Help! I'm in the middle of grad school finals!

It's a parallel port printer, right? Set the LPT port in the BIOS to EPP...

Then right click on My Computer and select Properties. On the second tab,
Hardware, click on Device Manager.

Go down to Ports (Com and LPT).; Click on the + to expand the tree and then
on the entry for LPT port.... In the Port Settings tab, ensujre you have a
check mark in Enable Legacy Plug and Play.
