Cannot Write CD. Message: "Insert a writable disc to continue"

Hi,
We have a new Toshiba Satellite A15-S157, it came with
Windows XP Installed. The CD writer was working OK, we
have burned some CD-RWs without any problems.
Yesterday, we were trying to copy some very small files
(less than 10MB) to a new blank CD-RW but when we click
on "Write these files to the CD" we get an error window
that says:

Insert a writable disc to continue.
The disc in the drive is not a writable CD or it is full.
Please insert a blank writable CD into drive D:\, or
insert a disc with enough free space to hold all the
files you have selected for writing to CD.
....

NOTE: WE TRIED INSERTING NEW BLANK CD-RW AND WE GOT THE
SAME RESULTS.

The only change we have made to this computer recently
was to install Lotus Smart Suite 9.8

Any help greatly appreciated
