cannot view message bar

While working on a spreadsheet, I must have accidentally clicked something
because the message bar disappeared from the top of the sheet. When I went
to View: Show/Hide, Message Bar was not available.

Can someone help me restore the bar to the top of my spreadsheet?

Thanks,

hi
i am unaware of any message bar at the top of the sheet so could you
possibly mean the formula bar?
on the menu bar....view>formula bar.

View>Show/Hide is only to hide or unhide the worksheet.

What do you consider as the "message bar"?

Maybe the Formula Bar?

View>Formula Bar toggles on and off.

Thank you for your responses.

I am working in Excel 2007. I somehow clicked something that removed the
main toolbar from the top (the one that shows the icons under Home, Insert,
etc. while I am working in the program). When I researched how to restore
this bar which I discovered is called the Message Bar, I found that I needed
to click View: Show/Hide: Message Bar. Unfortunately, the check box for
Message Bar is not available. The Formula Bar, however, is available and I
have clicked it so it is showing.

Could anyone tell me why this option is not available? And, how do I restore
it? It saves me so much time to have the icons present when I am working in
Excel.

Thanks,
Erin
