cannot upgrade computer from 98 to XP not enough memory

I have uninstalled every possible program that I could to
free up more space and I still am being told that I do not
have enough memory to install XP on my computer. Any
sugestions? thank you for any help!

Memory and hard drive space are two different things. What does the message
actually say?
