Recently I ran into some trouble with my DVD-R/CD-RW. Every time I tried to
burn CD's (nothing illegal) i kept getting an error message, something about
hardware communication problems.

To solve this I used system restore, which has always managed to get me out
of trouble before. Unfortunantely in 'Add/Remove Programs' i see listed
programs which I have already uninstalled. Now I can't get rid of them. They
show up as 60mb programs and theirinstallation folders contain remanents of
the original programs.

Also the hardware communication error still shows up from time to time.

Please Help!!

Using: Laptop
512mb ram
1.8ghz Pentium M
XP Pro
Roxio Burning software

Your easiest way is to reinstall the unwanted program then uninstall the
program and I would recommend to do this procedure before anything else is
attempted.

Another option is removing the program's folders and removing the program's
registration entries located here:

[HKCU\Software\ProgramName]
[HKLM\Software\ProgramName]
ProgramName could be substituted with CompanyName.

There may be left over startup entries in these common locations for the
unwanted program which should be removed.
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup"
"C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Start Menu\Programs\Startup"
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

To remove the invalid entry in the Add/Remove Program list follow Ramesh's
advice.

Remove invalid entries in Add/Remove Programs

For invalid context menu entries which System Restore may have restored,
read Ramesh's advice.

Manage the context-menu entries for files, folders, drives and Namespace
objects
