"Cannot turn off reminder" in Outlook Beta 2007

Steve

I had set up a recurring calendar item in Outlook 2003, which I cannot
get rid of in 2007 Beta.

First, I cannot see the item in my Calendar. However, when I start up
Outlook it appears as a reminder.

If I try to open from the Reminder dialogue, I get a message saying,
"Cannot open the item for this reminder. Cannot locate the recurrence
information for this appointment."

If I try to Dismiss, the message says, "Cannot turn off the reminder.
You may be reminded again. Cannot locate recurrence information for
this appointment."

How do I get rid of this nuisance reminder?

Thanks.

Steve

From your description, I assume you upgraded your profile from Outlook
2003?
The first thing you should try is creating a new profile (and adding
your pst file to it) via Control Panel, Mail.
If that doesn't help, then there could be a problem with your PST file.
You can try running scanpst.exe (look in the Office folder in Program
Files for it. It's the same folder e.g. winword.exe is in). Before you
use scanpst from Outlook 2007 though, make a backup copy of your PST.
Scanpst isn't fully working yet in B2 and might completely destroy your
PST. If that happens, you want to have a backup!

Starting Outlook using the /cleanreminders switch is the usual first line of
troubleshooting for a problem such as this.

Hi guys,

I'm having the problem described above and tried the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\outlook.exe" /cleanreminders startup and it didn't work. Any suggestions??

Oh, using Outlook 2007 BTW.

Hey guys,

This problem generally occurs because of corrupt or damaged calendar entries of the PST file which can be the outcome of any reason like virus infection, improper system shutdown, application malfunction, PST file header corruption, improper termination of MS Outlook application and so on. Corruption makes the valuable data inaccessible which need to be resolved.

In order to fix this issue user first need to use Scanpst.exe tool Of Outlook 2007 that is efficient enough to repair the corruption of the PST file. If this tool fails to resolve this issue then only opt for the third party tool to fix this problem forever.

All the best!
