Cannot transfer files and settings from Windows XP...

Hi All,

I really hope someone can help me with this... Here's the problem:

I had WinXP installed and I decided to install Vista instead, before I did
so, I cleaverly did a files and settings transfer wizard....

So then I formated my Hard Drive and installed a clean version of WinVista...
Now I want to go ahead and transfert back all my settings and files...
And BAM! No can do!
For a new system that is supposedly superior, I sure find this a big
downfall....
They should have at least made it backward compatible with WinXP files and
settings transfer compatible.

Any news on how I could get back all my infos? 'cause I really need all my
e-mails and personal files...

Vista has it's own Windows Easy Transfer wizard.

There is no way that WinXP's wizard could know about
what is required for Vista.

It does,
but you have to use it first.

Windows easy Transfer *** DOES *** support FASTWiz stores (the version that
shipped with XP. Use the Wizard as though you are trying to apply the store.
When you browse to the store there is a list box that allows you to select
the store type. Select *.DAT and next steps are as follows:

Create a directory for the contents to be extracted to
Note: Windows Easy Transfer will extract all contents of the FASTWiz store
and extract it to that directory. It ** WILL NOT ** migrate any settings (App
or System) to VISTA. This was designed to be a recovery scenario, hence was
provided in the product.

Cheers!
