Cannot start Windows XP

K

I tried to boot from the XP CD by going into my cmos
and adjusting it accordingly - but what i get on the screen
is:

"Boot from CD
press any key to boot from CD..."

When I press any key nothing happens; after a few seconds
I am back to the

"The last attempt to restart the system from its previous location
failed attempt to restart?

Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu
continue with system restart"

my Keyboard is once again frozen. I also tried to press the F8 key
rapidly during the bootup - this also seems to have no effect.

Try booting from your Windows XP CDROM. Choose the Repair (Recovery
Console) option from the menu.

When it finishes booting and stops at the command prompt enter the
following command:

DIR C:

Post the results back here.

Good luck

Is your keyboard working properly? Try pressing the Caps Lock and/or
Num Lock keys and see if the status lights for these keys change
between on and off.

Are you using a USB keyboard? If so try replacing it, even
temporarily, with a conventional keyboard and see if that makes any
difference.

Good luck
