I am using Office 2007 Pro w/ Vista. I do not understand what happened but I
have spent the past three hours troubleshooting why outlook will not start.

I recieve an error message stating: "Cannot start Mic Office Outlook window.
The set of folders cannot not be opened. Errors have been detected in the
file C:\ (it goes on to list the path)\\\\\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Quit Outlook
and alll mail-enabled apps, and then use the inbix repair tool (Scanpst.exe)
to diagnose and repair errors in the file."

Can not find Scanpst.exe. Any ideas?

Have you tried a new mail profile configured to work with your existing ..pst file?

Hi. Thank you so much.

Yes I did but it still did not work. I finally recieved an error message,
0x0040600; I went to micosoft's webpage; after running a serch I followed the
instructions to fix the error (for uthose using Vista and 2007).

After following the instrucitons-exactly- I found Scanpst.exe and the
original .pst file was repaired successfully. I was able to open outlook but
it immediately closes after stating "an unknown problem was encountered; the
program will close. Windows will try abd notify me when a solution is found."

I am now using Windows mail and it is working beautifully. I will continue
to use it until a solution is found. However, I am somewhat perplexed with
outlook 2007 and would still like to get it running.
