Cannot start Outlook.

I'm using Outlook XP Pro 2002 and I am getting an error message that reads:

Cannot Start Outlook. Unable to display the selected folder or item. Could
not open the item. Try again. When you click okay, Outlook closes.

My laptop came loaded with a teacher/student trial version of 2003 that I
have since deleted. I have created a new profile and all of the other
suggestions listed in previous emails/messages, but nothing is working for
me. I understand that there was some sort of conflict with versions.

You probably cannot use the message store (.pst file) that was created under
version 2003 (which could use Unicode format that earlier versions don't
support). You'll have to create a new message store. Find the old .pst
file and rename it, delete it, or use File -> Data Management to define a
new message store file.
