cannot start Default browser

I have installed Opera browser on my WindowsXP. All the links from MS Word
and other applications, such as help links from Adobe photoshop, and other
programs were opened with Opera. After I uninstalled Opera, links cannot be
opened at all. THe message says:"Cannot find Opera".
How to set the default browser back to Internet Explorer or Firefox.

There is an option to check for default browser, both in Internet Explorer
-> Tools and Firefox -> Tools -> Options.
 
Set Internet Explorer as the default browser in Windows XP SP1 and above:
