cannot shutdown, please help me

whenever i want to shutdown my computer, it deosn't. It does nothin. If you
wait for a while, the taskbar disappears, and nothin happens. The only way i
turn off my computer, is by holding down the power button. Plz help me!

Firewall: Norton Internet Security 2005
Antivirus: Norton Antivirus 2005
