Cannot shut down Windows XP

G

georgegabriel

I have Windows XP home edition and I am unable to shutdown
from the start menu. The system goes through the system
shutdown procedure and just as the system is ready to shut
down I see a 'blue screen of death' quickly displayed
(can't read what the problem is). The system then re-boots
and Windows starts up again. I have shut the computer down
manually but this does not solve the problem. Any help
would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks,
George

The computer is configured to reboot on error.
Control Panel>System
Advanced Tab
Startup and Recovery section
Settings button
Locate "Automatically Restart" checkbox. Uncheck it.
Then click OK, OK
Now it won't reboot so you can now read the screen.

Now you can make a new post with the exact error and hopefully someone can solve
your problem.

Good luck.
