I keep getting an error while trying to connect to my other XP pro
machine which I have shared folders on. It says I do not have access
to these resources when I try to see the shared folders on the other
machine. I have set permissions so that everyone has rights. Any
ideas?

Hi DL,

Assuming there is no server involved here ...

1. On the sharing system, in network adapter properties, Enable File and
Printer Sharing.
2. Enter the same Workgroup name for all systems for easier browsing.
3. Make sure there are NO duplicate computer names.
4. If there is a router, enable it's DHCP server or provide fixed IP-address
to all systems.
5. Make sure they are in the same subnet e.g. 192.168.XXX.different
Octets 1, 2 and 3 must be identical, octet 4 must differ per machine.
6. On the sharing system create user accounts best identical to those of the
connecting users.
(if user name and password are identical, there will be NO
username/password request
when trying to access, otherwise it will).
7. Setup shares on the sharing system and grant rights to those users.
8. Setup rights for the shared folder(s) for those users.

This should cover all.
