cannot set up an internet connection using modem.

I am connected to the internet via a LAN conncetion. When
I try to enable the firewall for this connection, i get
an error message that 'cannont start internet connection
sharing'.
Then when i want to set up a new connection using my dial
up modem, I find the two radio buttons "connect using
dial up modem" and "connect using boradband connection"
greyed out and I cannot setup any dial up connections.
What to do?

This is the usual problem:

You Cannot Create a Network Connection After You Restore Windows XP

The fix is to re-apply SP1.

This crops up from time to time too:

Dial-up Modem or PPPoE Option in New Connection Wizard Is Unavailable
