In the future, do not attempt to transcribe or manually type the error
message. It often introduces typos which make it impossible for the
responders here to determine the true cause of your problem.
Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.

Your error message below says "smtp.central.cos.net", which is not correct.
It should be smtp.central.cox.net.
I don't know if it is really that way in your account settings, or if you made
a typo while transcribing.

I will do that in the future, everything is correct except the .cos is
suppose to be .cox, I hope that helps.

There are two possible causes for that problem.
Were you sending from home when you got that error?
Using a laptop away from home can cause that error.

The other possibility is a non-compatible antivirus.
Which one are you running?

If this has been going on for more than a few hours, call Cox. Unless you
just did something to your system to cause problems, chances are that you've
already got your answer in the error message:

"possible causes are server problem."

I using the home computer, not a laptop. I use the antivirus trend micro
antivirus plus anti spyware, but I have been using this for over a year and
have not had problems

Trend Micro is one of he top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
It did not begin to cause problems until an update of some 4 months ago.
The only way you can prove or disprove that your antivirus is the culprit
is to uninstall it, then try Windows Mail again. If no improvement, you can
always reinstall it.

Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, because it is not
so prone to suffering bad effects from antivirus programs:

A recent version of the Trend antivirus program (details not available)
is one of the three antivirus programs that cause the most problems in
Windows Mail. Disabling email scanning in the antivirus program
occasionally helps if the program lets you do this, but it's more likely
that you'll have to uninstall the antivirus program instead. Problems in
Windows Mail caused by antivirus programs are usually slow to show
up - typically months.

You may then need to remove your email account under Windows
Mail, then restart Windows Mail and add the account again.

If this cures your problem, you may want a replacement antivirus
program that doesn't cause such problems. Most versions of the
Norton or McAfee antivirus programs are bad choices - they are
the other two of the three antivirus programs that cause the most
problems in Windows Mail, and need more than just an uninstall
to stop them from causing these problems. I recommend either avast!
or AVG, either one with a custom install where you tell it to leave
out the parts that scan email.

Neither one contains an antispyware section. However, unlike
antivirus programs, you can install more than one antispyware
program on the same machine without problems. I use three
antispyware programs:
