cannot send any email since error message

I tried to send an email today and one specific email seems to be stuck and
shows this error message:

"Message could not be displayed Windows Mail encountered an unexpected
problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or
low disk space and try again."

Because of this, none of my emails can be sent nor can I receive emails.
What can I do?

What happens to a message you try to send, does it stay in the
Outbox, or does it go into the Sent Items folder?
If there is an accumulation of messages in the Outbox folder, open
the Outbox folder. Move as many of those messages as you can to
the Drafts folder. If any won't move or can't be deleted,
apply this Microsoft fix:

Although that article only mentions Outbox, it works for all mail folders.
