Cannot select options in Footnote menu

I cannot select the options in dropdown menu of footnotes, that appears in
normal view when footnotes are selected. There are four of them, but only all
footnotes are selected all the time, the others doesn't function. Reset
button also doesn't appear. so i cannot edit separator. what can i do?

Do you experience the same problems if you open Word in Safe Mode (press
Ctrl while starting Word)?

What version of Word? If there is a Repair option on the Help menu, try
that.

2003. I uninstalled and reinstalled the office, but the problem persists!
 
Uninstalling and reinstalling is not the same as repairing. Try Help |
Detect and Repair. But I can't help feeling that you did not give Safe Mode
a proper trial. When you started with the Ctrl key pressed, did you get a
message box asking if you wanted to run Word in Office Safe Mode and answer
Yes?
