Codecs! An uncompressed AVI file takes up about 12gb for every hour of
'footage'. Therefore almost all AVI files found on the web are compressed!
To play a compressed file, you need the correct codec.

To find out which codec your avi files are compressed with, download and
install G-Spot..from
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

Then you'll know which codecs to download and install.... probably DiVX
and/or XVid.
