I manage about 5 sites and recently, working in any of them I can save a page already created that I make changes to but when I try to create and save or save as a new page It hangs up then an error message & frontpage shuts down on me. I am on WIN XP & frontpage 2000, if anyone can help I would appreciate it? I even re-installed the software with no fix!

This just happened to me as well starting sat. not sure what the issue is.
I check with hosting provider and no response. I have downloaded microsoft
updates recently. maybe one of them did it....... not sure but I am
checking into it as well

Hi

What is actual error message ?
Please do the following to get the system information
a) Run ‘msinfo32’ from the command line. (If it fails to run,
then run ‘winmsd’)
b) Select File->Save and save it as ‘mssupport’ upload this file
if possible to any of your site, so that we can find out weather this is a
known issue

if you are unable to upload just open the winmsd and select Microsoft
office environment
in the "office event/Application fault section' you will be able to find
an event for 'frontpg.exe'. Also there will be an associated 'bucket ID'
Post this bucket ID so that I can check the error for you

thank

Binu

I called my hosting co. right off & it seems to be a frontpage or microsoft issue.....I didn't install any updates or do anything new before my frontpage started going haywire?

I have sent the same report everytime the system crashes. I tried to upload
a new page using ftp with dreamweaver and it worked. so it must be
frontpage 2000. I will send a request to microsoft and hopefully will get a
response one day.

There doesn't seem to be an actual error message, just a window pops up
stating a "microsoft application error has occured" and allows me to send
the error report to microsoft which I have done a million times. There is
however a fault ID. - Fault Bucket 01948140.

also bucket id is unknown

gets your money. they leave......

Really? This site is free and there's lots of help here...just post your question. Also, do you get free service on your 4 year old Chevy?

Just curious.

R,
If my car has a manufacturer defect vs a wear and tear from normal usage,
the dealership I bought my car from will inspect the car for free and make a
recommendation which obviously costs money.

Check if you are using anything like HTML theme files attached to your
site. If yes remove it
Also from your previous posting I understand there is no BUCKET ID
associated with the Frontpg.exe

also try start-> Run-> SFC /SCANNOW

there is no starting point for troubleshooting.. this issue

lets try this ,
create fresh new site and try edit the site using FrontPage ??
Is it still crashing

I do not use theme files in any of my sites. This problem just came out of the blue as I have been editing many of the same web sites for 4 years with the same frontpage, etc..

What do you mean by create a fresh new site ?

have you created the new page on local and uploaded it to the server? or are
you working live on the site(remote)?

AS i understand you are managing about 5sites...
Is it possible that you can create the another site like http://testsite
and try editing this site using FP , and create a new page and click on
save as???

Here is another techniques that you can try

1.start->run-> frontpg http://sitename ( try opening the site like this )

2. open the website in IE and click on "edit with Frontpage( still getting
the same error)

3. What if you open IE and click on file->open ->type in the site name (
eg: http://mysite) and CHECK the open as WEBfolder button . In noremal case
the site should open as a folder and the folder will have all the files and
folder in the site. Try creating a new page inside this folder , any error
messages???

i think answer to this questions will give me a starting point

thanks

I have been thinking about upgrading to 2003, Do you think this would fix, or is it likely the error would still show up ? I don't seem to have a problem saving to my computer but when I try to save "live" on the server side it won't let me.

Have you contacted your host and ask them to run a check on the extensions and/or permissions on
your account?

But did they run a check on them or the permissions?

Also have you search for and delete the *.web files. These are system hidden files.

You need to open the site directly in FP via File Menu | Open Web and then enter your login info,
not IE.
