Cannot Right-Click

I am currently running windows XP home edition that was upgraded from Windows
ME. Everything seems to work fine, except for one rather large problem. In
windows, such as when i am browsing for files or just looking on the desktop,
I cannot Right click, or do anything that goes along with it (copy paste,
etc). If I right click the computer locks up. If, say, I wanted to cut a
file from my desktop and paste it in a new location, it will lock up if I hit
Ctrl X. I can right click on the task bar, in programs themselves such as
Word and IE, and can also perform functions such as copy and paste, but I
cannot do it in windows itself. Any suggestions? Thanks.

/scannow did not work, however, i will attempt the link provided by wes when
i return home this evening. Thanks - ill let you know how it turns out.

the problem...had to do with graphics driver
