Cannot restart and CD-rom does not open..getting corrupt file note

HELP!! System kept re-booting and windows would not
startup completely.

Decided to try re-install from CD rom, got half way
through and now cannot get to startup. I am getting
corrupt file message for winnt\system32
\config\system.SAVstartup option, press F8...

Will not allow me to get into startup or emergency start
options such as Safe Mode, etc. getting
message "...insert windows 2000 cd-rom or boot disk and
select "r" at first screen to try and repair..."

Win2000 disk does not work at all upon startup of system
(cd in the drive, but doing nothing). system takes me
back to the same screen (where you can hit the F8
key ...but not working...as mentioned above).

Anyone that can help...please post solution or where to
find it!!!!! Thanks

I have just recovered from something similar. An error that I have
forgotten about made me think I needed to re-install 2000. Got as far
as installing com+ and that was it. Every time I tried the
installation stopped at that.

After much headscrating and using the manufactures program for
evaluating the drives, I installed a new motherboard and then got on
with a complete installation.
