cannot rename, move nor delete folder

hi

i just realized that i cannot move, rename nor delete a folder and i have no
idea why.
After sending the order, the system responds as nothing would have happened
and no order has been received. It's like none of my orders involving
directories are sent or received.

When deleting a folder, I am asked to confirm, then it's like I never tried
to delete the folder. Renaming the folder works as normal, after pressing
'enter' to confirm the new name (after tipping it) the old name appears.
Trying to do these actions in command prompt doesn't work, too.
I tried over a dozen folder in different directories, none worked as they
are supposed to.

When viewing the properties of a folder, I see it's read-only. After
unchecking the read-only checkbox and clicking OK, it still doesn't work.
When I view the same folder's properties window again, the read-only
checkbox is checked, as I would never have unchecked it.

Working with files just works fine, only directories seem to have a problem.

My hdd is set up with NTFS, and I have WinXP SP2 Pro running.
Folders are on my local hard drive, not on a network share.
I have administrator rights and I am the only user of this machine.

I am no longer able to name or rename folders. I tried several times, all
the usual ways, and it won't work (right clicking -no option to rename-,
clicking on it once, clicking on folder options on the left, and creating a
new folder in hopes of being able to name it) Nothing works. I even tried
F2 after some advice from one of these posts. Very strange. Just stared
happening in the last few weeks.

I already have the ownership of each and every folder on my system. I have
access to everything, to the entire system without limits. This is what a
administrator is.

But, i already resolved the issue, by viewing all folder accesses and
handlers, and checking out every process and service.
