cannot remove menu start item

Hi

When i try to remove a specific item out of the start menu, Windows XPP generates an error message: "Unable to remove file. Cannot read data from the sourcefile or sourcedisk

The strange part is that this occurs only with one specific item. All the other items present in the start menu can be removed. This particular item is a shortcut, not a (missing) file and was preinstalled when i bought the laptop. My harddisk contains just one partition.

Can anybody give some good advice?

Exactly where on the Start Menu? If All Programs, this means that the
program in one way or another has been removed elsewhere without using Add
or Remove and/or the proper uninstaller. You can either reinstall it, or
follow the steps here:
