Cannot Remove Invalid Icon From Desktop

B

Bill

I am unable to remove an invalid Norton AV shortcut from my Desktop which
showed up after installing 2006. I even uninstalled Norton AV 2006, but
could still not delete it. Tried deleting it, dragging it to the Recycle
Bin, Searching in Explorer then trying to delete it with no luck. Would not
delete in Safe Mode, and changed the permissions in Safe Mode, but still
could not delete it. When trying to delete I get an error: "Access Denied,
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not
currently in use" When I select properties by right clicking the Shortcut
tab states: "This is not a valid shortcut" and there is no target. On the
General tab the location is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop. I
would sure appreciate some help in removing this icon. During the process
of right clicking it, I accidentally zipped it and can't remove it either
:-( Help Appreciated.

Bill, if Norton is still Uninstalled try going to C:\Program Files and
deleting the Norton Folder. If it deletes Ok then try the
shortcut on the Desktop.

Right click a blank part of the desktop --> Properties --> Desktop -->
Customize Desktop --> Clean Desktop Now.
