Cannot remove file from desktop

Dale

Greetings to all,
I have a problem that I have been working on for about 3 weeks
without any luck. I received an email from a friend with an mpg
extension, I dragged the file over to my desktop. This file shows no
bytes and cannot be
deleated or renamed or the attributes changed. The file icon is
dimmed out. I went into the command prompt and found that the file has
the attribute of archive, hidden, system and I cannot change the
attributes. When I try to delete the file I get a message saying
cannot read from the source file or disk. I have looked at the desktop
in the registry but this icon doesn't show there. I hope someone has
run across this and can offer some advise. It doesn't hurt anything
but not being able to remove it worries me, thanks for any ideas,
Dale

Here's another thing to try. From a command prompt in the desktop folder,
do a DIR /x. In the second column from the right, the files correct 8.3
filename will be shown.

See if it can be deleted using the DEL command in the CMD prompt window.

Regards,

DanS
