Cannot reload XP - ASMS error

I am trying to reload my XP system, but get stuck at T-39 with the message :
'The file asms on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 CD is needed. Type
the path where the file is located, and then click OK.' The path box offers
the default 'GLOBALROOT\DEVICE\CDROM0\I386'. Clicking OK does nothing and the
keyboard is inactive at this point. I tried the support procedure located at

but it does NOT help.

Any suggestions ?

I am having the same exact problem you were did you ever get a resolution to this? please let me know...im going crazy here.
