Cannot rejoing win2k domain w/ xp pro

Hi,
This is very frustrating. I took an XP Pro machine out of a win2k domain
and into a workgroup to transfer files from a laptop that was not a member. I
signed on as alocal administrator to use the workgroup, and then tried to
rejoin the machine to the domain. It asked for the authenication for which I
gave the domain admn id and password. It accepted the entries but then after
a moment, ti gives me the message, "Cannot join domain. The specified server
cannot perform task" What gives here? And how can I fix it?

Thanks for all help.

Thanks for the help. I went back and checked the workstation's IP
configuration. It was using the DHCP of the router not the DHCP in the DC.
When I changed the setting to fixed IP and removed the old computer listing
from ADUC, the rejoin went just fine.

Thanks.
