On my windows mail, when I click send/recieve it is not checking to see if I
have any new e-mails as usual; instead it is asking me to verify my username
and password for the mail server. I've tried my usual username and password
and it doesn't work...can anyone help?

Also it is coming up with this error message:

Account: 'POP3', Server: 'POP3.ntlworld.com', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

The account has most probably been corrupted by a third party application,
most likely Norton?
McAfee and Trend Micro are also capable of causing this?

What Antivirus application do you have?

Try removing the account after ensuring that you note all the account
settings, tools>accounts>select account>properties.

After removal, via tools>accounts>select account>remove, close WM, re-open,
and then rebuild the account.

The computer has anti-virus software supplied by our internet provider called
Virgin Broadband Pc Guard, I will try the steps suggested and let you know.

Thanks.

Thanks Steve,
I am having the exact same problem. My question is that if I re-build the
account as you suggested will I lose my contact list?
thanks for your expertise.

That one took 3 attempts :-))

You will lose nothing.

To be certain please post your complete error message, in a new thread, no
two problems are exactly the same.
