I am using Outlook 2003 and suddenly have lost the capacity to receive email.
I searched for my .pst file and had 3 entries show up in the Search window:

SCANPST.EXE-2FC460F8.PF
SCANPST.EXE_0002_1033
SCANPST (Inbox Repair Tool)

I double-clicked on the Inbox Repair Tool and then typed in the name of the
first folder. I received a message telling me that file does not exist - type
in a valid file name. So I tried the second file and got the same message.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

Thanks a million,

Thanks a million,

scanpst is a tool for repairing .pst files. Not sure why you think that your
ability to receive emails is related to a corrupted .pst.

Does your email account provide a webmail interface ? If so, can you receive
emails on it?
If so, then it is probably a setting in Outlook that has changed.
Double-check the settings with your ISP's help pages.
Still no joy? Can you download them in Outlook Express? If so, then it
really is a problem with Outlook's pst. In Outlook, File menu, data file
management, it will tell you where your .pst is, and you can then use
scanpst on it.

John,

Thank you so much for your respnse. I had been unable to receive emails for
3 days. When I clicked the "Send/Receive" button, nothing happened. When I
went to check my send/receive settings, no wndow opened, so I went to the
Microsoft website and found postings from other about the same thing. That
led me to try the Inbox Repair Tool.

Before I posted my query last night, I went to my cable company's website
and checked to see if my email was operative and it was, so I figured that
the problem was with Outlook. Unbelievably, when I opened my Inbox this
morning and clicked on Send/Receive," my email downloaded. I was also able to
change my "Send/Receive" settings.

I am going to look for that ghost who is messing with me.

Thank you again for your kindness.
