Cannot reapply SP4 to WIN2000

Dave

Hi all.

I have a simple web server without Active Directory. I had to re-install
IIS and wanted to re-apply SP4. When I attempt it, I get this error.

"The file c:\winnt\system32\dllcache\winlogon.exe is open or in use by
another application. Close all other applications and click retry." There
are no other applications running in Task Manager. Winlogon.exe is running
as a process, and cannot be terminated.

I have shut down WWW,FTP, and SMTP services.

Any ideas how to get around this?

Thanks,
Dave

once a windows 2000 service pack ( sp1,sp2,sp3 or sp4)
is installed, it is part of the OS 100 %.
there is no need to reinstall it.
I always slipstearm it, then make a bootable CD because of this.
the other smaller hotfix's are NOT the same.
i would use the hotfix checker to see what needs to be reinstalled

Thanks.

I slipstreamed SP4 and then did a repair from the CD. All files are
current, I have repaired IIS and with fingers X-ed, all seems to be
operating normally again.

Thanks for the help.
