cannot put my computer on stand by

on sunday i reinstalled win xp and everything was fine till i wanted to put
my computer on stand by. for some reason now i cant put it stand by its in
the box but not highlighted anymore. i have gone to power in my control panel
for set it to hybernation but its not eather? help
