Cannot print to LaserJet on a Win XP Pro sys from Vista Ultimate

On the Windows Vista machine, I type a few words in NotePad. Ctrl+P and the
Print dialog box opens. I choose Add Printer under Select Printer, then
click on Find Printer. The system can recognize three computers. The Window
Vista, a Windows XP Pro system that I am in the process of removing, and the
Windows XP Pro system that the LaserJet 2100 Series PCL 6 is directly
attached to via a parallel cable on LPT1. I click on the appropriate
computer, and the desired printer icon appears. There were two options at
this point; Let the system seach with negative results, or select the
printer and click Next. Then, a message is returned that reads: "Windows
cannot connect to the Printer. Access is denied."
Then, a message is returned that reads: "Windows cannot connect to the
Printer. Access is denied."

An alternative method was: Control Panel | Printers | Add a printer, Add an
Network printer, then as above.

I'm sorry, but I asked this question two days ago, and then switched to the
Windows Mail on the new computer. The response wasn't sufficient to allow me
to solve the puzzle.

Two days of guessing and fiddling. Can someone help me solve this?
