Cannot ping

What reasons could there be for me not being able to ping someone (A)? They
sit across the desk from me, we are both admins, I can ping the guy next to
me (B), (A) has NOT got the windows firewall on, I cannot ping (A) hostname
or IP address but (A) CAN ping me.

Any ideas ????

check the cable
 
We are both working on the same LAN and machine (A) has full network access,
as already mentioned (A) can ping me
