CANNOT OPEN

HI,

I AM USING EXECEL 97 ENGLISH BUT THE FOLLOWING ERROR WAS SHOWN ON THE
SCREEN.

Window s cannot find 'C:\Documents and Settings\eddie\desktop\file name.xls.
Make sure you type the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a
file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

I LOGON AS ADMINISTRATOR, EVERYTHING IS FINE, I DO NOT KNOW WHY SUDDENLY
WILL OCCUR IT.

PLEASE HELP.

I bet you got that error message when you double clicked on that file in windows
explorer.

If that's true...

Sometimes one of these works:

Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)

--- or ---

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.
